Surface Design Techniques: Transforming Textiles

One week to one month workshop. (All levels, zigzag sewing machine needed.)

Paint, print, stamp, dye, use a copy machine, applique, collage, and then combine with embroidery, by hand or machine. Students of all levels explore many processes for developing a personal style with textiles through integrating and mixing techniques and ideas. Design and idea development are discussed. Work may be two or three-dimensional and may incorporate mixed media.

The exact content of this class would be designed specifically for the length of time allotted for the class. It is important that the quantity of techniques covered is not too great so that there is time for the techniques to be integrated with one another.
